NW 23rd Progress
By Charles Turner2010 Portland Street of Dreams February
By Charles TurnerI visited the 2010 Portland Street of Dreams site for the first time last month and said that I would make a monthly trip up there to photograph the progress. The (temporarily) beautiful weather begged for the scenic route back from Hillsboro via Cornelius Pass Road and along Skyline BLVD to Cresap Lane. There hasn’t been a lot of visible change in the last month but there was some activity today. There are two open building permits on PortlandMaps.
First Photos- 2010 Portland Street of Dreams
By Charles TurnerCresap Lane is the 2010 Portland Street of Dreams site. The show is in August and there is a lot of building to do between now and then. I’ll head up there monthly and take a new pictures so that we can track the progress. The next photo is a stitch of multiple photos and represents about a 350 degree view where the center of the photo is the bottom of the cul-de-sac.
Portland Trees
By Charles TurnerWe had to remove the large, dying, maple from our yard over the weekend. Some large branches came out during wind storms last year and the risk that the whole tree would fail was possible. One expert gave it less than a year. A few years ago, its output of leaves filled our utility trailer multiple times over. This year, the leaves would have fit in a single can. While this is not a street tree, there is an interesting article here about the value of Portland street trees and their effect on real estate. We planted four mature trees about 4 years ago from bigtreestoday.com. Three are doing really well, one is hanging in there.

By Charles TurnerI don’t know how many times I’ve driven and even walked by the back side of this house on NW 18th Ave. without seeing it. The lot is 35 feet wide sandwiched between taller buildings. The chimney is the tallest I’ve seen on a single family house. It’s hard to see that the top is supported by four wires to the buildings around it.
