I visited the 2010 Portland Street of Dreams site for the first time last month and said that I would make a monthly trip up there to photograph the progress.  The (temporarily) beautiful weather begged for the scenic route back from Hillsboro via Cornelius Pass Road and along Skyline BLVD to Cresap Lane.  There hasn’t been a lot of visible change in the last month but there was some activity today.  There are two open building permits on PortlandMaps.

Cresap_Lane_SignCresap Lane is the 2010 Portland Street of Dreams site.  The show is in August and there is a lot of building to do between now and then.  I’ll head up there monthly and take a new pictures so that we can track the progress.  The next photo is a stitch of multiple photos and represents about a 350 degree view where the center of the photo is the bottom of the cul-de-sac.

We often get asked what sort of things show up on inspection reports.  Mike Huppi of the Home Team Inspection Service sees and photographs the things that go beyond curb appeal.  We’re going to start posting some of his photos here as a reminder of how important it is to have a home inspection and find out what is really going on with the home you are buying.  Termites aren’t something we see a lot in Portland real estate but they do exist here.  These termite tubes were discovered at the base of the furnace.

The Pioneer Courthouse Square Christmas tree is being taken down today.

The cold weather brought on broken pipes.

We had to remove the large, dying, maple from our yard over the weekend.  Some large branches came out during wind storms last year and the risk that the whole tree would fail was possible.  One expert gave it less than a year.  A few years ago, its output of leaves filled our utility trailer multiple times over.  This year, the leaves would have fit in a single can.  While this is not a street tree, there is an interesting article here about the value of Portland street trees and their effect on real estate.  We planted four mature trees about 4 years ago from bigtreestoday.com.  Three are doing really well, one is hanging in there.

The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Houston Rockets in their opening game of the season at the Rose Garden.  Portland takes great pride (or prejudice) in the Blazers as they are Portland’s only top level professional sport.  Portland is home to minor league hockey (the Winterhawks), soccer (the Timbers)  and baseball (the Beavers).  That may change when major league soccer arrives.

The doors still locked but not for long. “Book now” for their Halloween night
event is posted on the door.  There is more information about the historic building and events on their website.  The restaurant’s address is 626 SW Park, Portland OR 97205.

Pretty soon, the leaves will all be gone and washing into storm drains where they will create an even bigger mess :-) .  But for now, the colors around town couldn’t be better.

The Portland Trail Blazers play the Suns in their old home, Memorial
